Hussain Sagar, the picturesque lake in the heart of the city is Hyderabad's most
precious landmark. This 445 years old lake of 5.70 million square metres surface
area and 28 million cubic metres in volume was built in 1562 AD by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah to cater to the irrigation and drinking water requirements of the City. With numerous parks, recreational
spots, a monolithic Buddha Statue, boating and water sports like yachting and sailing,
Hussain Sagar Lake has emerged as the most sought after tourist destination in the city.
